Kenya - Providing WASH Knowledge and Water Filters

300,000 children under 5 die annually from diarrheal diseases.

One of the most basic human needs is water.  Water is important for almost every aspect of life including drinking, washing, bathing, farming, and more.  Rural Africa has very limited sources of water that are clean, adequate, and accessible.  The majority of available water sources tend to be unprotected shallow wells, rivers, dams, and springs.  Consequently, many children and adults suffer from water borne diseases including cholera, typhoid, and amoeba.  More than 300,000 children under 5 die annually from diarrheal diseases due to poor sanitation, poor hygiene, or unsafe drinking water – over 800 per day.

Earth And Water works in western Kenya with the mission to bring life to people through the most valuable resource on Earth – water. They have initiated small business development projects, school and household water filtration systems, well drilling, and various water development projects.  Earth And Water works to help communities in crisis by providing accessible and uncontaminated water sources along with education about water hygiene and sanitation.

Their first focus was drilling wells for rural communities, orphanages, and churches. These wells are hundreds of feet deep and provide clean water to those in need. Yet with the high cost of drilling wells, they are also looking to distribute more VF100 Home Filters as well as provide WASH training. Would you partner with Earth And Water so that they can reach even more communities with WASH training and clean water?
